We are thrilled to announce that DOM and Math The Band will be playing I AM Fest this year!

DOM, the Worcester, MA band has been a favorite of ours since the release of their first EP, Sun Bronzed Greek Gods. They have been featured in every magazine and blog that matters and their new EP, Family Of Love, was just featured in Spin. Check out the video for the extremely infectious “Living In America.”

Math the Band is a electro-punk spazz duo from Providence, RI. They use a combination of old video game systems, analog synthesizers and energy drinks to make the fastest, loudest, most party-est music they can imagine. They’ve only cracked their head open on stage once. Check out this video for “Four To Six.”

We’re really excited to announce that I Am Festival 2012 will now take place in the heart of downtown New London, Connecticut. We’ve loved the experience of being on the Custom House Pier, but it will be extremely fun holding the festival in the city. We’ll still have awesome craft vendors and an awesome selection on food along State Street, but don’t forget to check out our wonderful local shops while you’re jumping between stages.

Speaking of stages, we have four stages this year at I Am Fest! Parade Plaza and Hygienic Art Park host the two main stages and, this year, we add stages at the Oasis Pub and The Telegraph. All four stages are within one block of each other, so getting back and forth between stages will be a breeze!

Hospitality

“Less than one second into the superb Belle & Sebastian homage “Eighth Avenue,” on Hospitality’s self-titled debut, there’s a tiny mistake—a botched guitar strum from a player whose grip slipped just so. Hospitality is a sharp, well-rehearsed guitar-pop collection, hardly the work of bedroom amateurs, so that chord sticks out: Like a pair of beat-up Chucks or a dog-eared book, it feels lived-in and personalized.

Hospitality is full of these moments, flashes of raucous, messy humanity trampling through otherwise flawlessly melodic songwriting. “Friends Of Friends” is a reminder that saxophone blurts had a role in rock decades before Hall And Oates, and then there’s the knowingly mock-punk way singer Amber Papini declares “I don’t care, I don’t care,” in “Betty Wang.” “The Right Profession” diverts a sneering lead guitar into the open arms of major-key arpeggios. Later, “Sleepover” goes unexpectedly bittersweet: “Let’s pretend we’re married,” sings Papini, a deft-tongued vocalist who sounds like Karen O with more 30 Rock DVDs. Like “Eighth Avenue,” “Liberal Arts” nods to Stuart Murdoch: It finds Papini gently chastising a dude-friend for idling away his semesters majoring in English and “fingering your girlfriend.” (Is she jealous? Is she rooting for him to make it to home plate? It’s left unsaid.)

Beyond the twee signifiers, Hospitality’s balance of happiness and melancholia gives weight to its soaring melodies. Mostly, the subjects of these songs just want to be loved. Hospitality is already well on its way.” - AV Club
