The Cranks, twins Haley and Connor Gowland and Alex Markoski) play upbeat alt-rock with the modern dynamics of Guster, Paramore and The Strokes. Haley’s vocals are reminiscent of proficient rockers like Chrissie Hynde of the Pretenders.
After 6 years of writing and performing hundreds of shows, in 2014 The Cranks were named winners of the 2013 RADAR award from the New England Music Awards for under 21 acts “on the rise” among 200 submissions throughout New England. Their 3rd CD “Orange” was awarded Album of the Year runner-up by Limelight Magazine Music Awards, and in June The Cranks opened for Paramore and Fall Out Boy on the Magic Hat stage at Meadowbrook Pavilion in Gilford, NH. The band has just finished tracking songs for their next EP due out this fall.
Haley is a sophomore at Connecticut College and is a member of the ConnChords a capella group and the student band “Canopy” who both perform frequently on campus.
